Sustainability at Elesco: Our Commitment to the Environment

Updated: Sep 19

At Elesco, we are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability in every aspect of our operations. As part of our commitment, we participate in the Timber Neutral scheme, which enables us to offset our oak usage through replanting, ensuring a positive contribution to the environment. Timber Neutral allows manufacturers to take direct control of their sustainability practices, helping to reduce the environmental footprint of our products.

How the Timber Neutral Scheme Works

  1. Calculating Usage: The amount of timber used in the production of our flooring is carefully measured.

  2. Determining Tree Felling: We assess the quantity of trees felled based on the manufacturing practices and regions from which the timber originates.

  3. Replanting Trees: Trees are replanted to offset our usage, and this process is fully audited to provide transparency, showing exactly where the new trees have been planted.

This initiative ensures that when you purchase our flooring, you can do so with confidence, knowing that we are actively contributing to forest regeneration. Additionally, we can provide clients with detailed reports of where the replanting for their specific project has occurred. More information can be found through Timber Neutral.

The Timber Neutral scheme applies to all types of flooring we offer, including planks, herringbone, chevron, and mansion weave styles.

Beyond Timber Neutral

In addition to Timber Neutral, we are committed to using environmentally friendly products in our finishing processes. We partner with leading oil suppliers such as Blanchon, Saicos, and Ciranova, all of which support the European V.O.C. Directive. This directive encourages reduced environmental impact through the use of eco-friendly products, and these suppliers are constantly developing new, more sustainable oils.

FSC® Certification

We are also proud to offer FSC® certified oak (FSC® C007915). The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) promotes responsible forest management, ensuring that forests, along with the people and wildlife that depend on them, are protected. The FSC® system guarantees a certified chain of custody, meaning every step of the supply chain, from the forest to the end user, is inspected for compliance. If you require FSC® certified oak for your project, please let us know when requesting a quote.

At Elesco, we are committed to sustainability and continuously strive to reduce our environmental impact. If you would like more information on our sustainable practices or the steps we are taking to protect the environment, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
